Interview with the Lowell Sun
Patalano has an inkling of why she was trusted with high-profile cases early in her career -- it’s the nuanced judgement and empathy she said she developed by being brought up by a single dad, a lineman for an electric company for 43 years, and putting herself through college.

The District Attorney has tremendous power to impact the lives of 1.5 million people of Middlesex County. If someone is accused of committing a crime, it is not the police but the DA who has the sole power to decide if criminal charges are filed and the severity of those charges. That is why the District Attorney must serve as a minister of justice.
Focus on Victims
Protecting the Vulnerable
Too often, the current administration at the Middlesex DA’s Office has failed to prioritize the needs of victims. In the last four fiscal years, despite having more than $650,000 available in funding from the Commonwealth’s Witness Protection Program, the current administration has made only two claims amounting to a shockingly low amount of $1,900 each - less than one-half of one percent of the total funds available.
This failure to procure resources on behalf of the most vulnerable members of our community, particularly for those victims of domestic violence, is unforgivable and must change.
Modernizing the Middlesex Da's office

A just and fair approach means bringing meaningful reform in Middlesex County to the way we use cash bail. Since 2013, the number of folks held before trial in Middlesex County has increased by 110%. The only leader responsible for that increase: the District Attorney. It's time to change the culture in Middlesex. Incarceration has tremendous social and fiscal costs. We must do better!
